Whether you like another band's music or not you never know who is going to take you out on tour or who you are going to be friends with and that is just something that is important to us.

We really try to make sure that the band writes the songs, not just one person.

But if you want to be in a band and write music, then you should just be in a band and write music.

For me, songwriting is something like breathing: I just do it. But that doesn't mean you're fantastic.

Always just remember that you can never know all; you're always going to be learning; there's always going to be something new. I don't think you'll ever have it all figured out.

Anytime I audition for something, it's always a question of whether or not the people I'm auditioning for understand I'm an improviser and I like to do that, and if they like that or if they just want someone who's going to do what's written.
