Why are we so driven to understand, when there is so much that can't be understood?

Sometimes things aren't understood until they are ready to be heard.

If we could relate to the dynamics of things instead of the things themselves, I wonder if it would leave more room for tolerance, and lessen the potential for conflict. It would seem to me that the answer is likely yes.

People tell me they have no idea what I am going through, but then feel they have a right to judge how I am going through it.

It is a luxury to be understood.

If we lived more from the person we would like ourselves to be and less from the "ideal" that others would like to experience us as, I suspect we would be lying a whole lot less, and liking ourselves a whole lot more. It takes a lot of effort to defend something we're not.
