Wise teachers impart their knowledge; inept ones impose theirs

Wise teachers create an environment that encourages students to teach themselves

The difference is Hernando County being able to be competitive in recruiting good teachers and retaining the great teachers that we have here, so it's important that we're on an equal playing field. That's really what the school board is looking to do.

Wise parents offer criticism only when asked, and then minimally

That profile is more common than not. There is a shortage of teachers of color and particularly African-American males at the elementary-school level.

Being that they major in history, if they wanted to be teachers, they could use their knowledge from taking these tours to make other students more excited about history.
