Witches knew that mysterious omens were around all the time. The world was always very nearly drowning in mysterious omens. You just had to pick the one that was convenient.

And he said unto them, Which of you shall have a friend, and shall go unto him at midnight, and say unto him, Friend, lend me three loaves; / For a friend of mine in his journey is come to me, and I have nothing to set before him? / And he from within shall answer and say, Trouble me not: the door is now shut, and my children are with me in bed; I cannot rise and give thee.

I'm going to let them stay up until midnight and do what they've got to do, wave and wear a hat if they want to wear a hat or something, then go to bed after that. Hopefully a lot of them will already be asleep.

Nothing I can say or devise, and nothing anybody else can say or devise, is going to be perfect.

Personally, I think the best motto for an educational establishment is: 'Or Would You Rather Be a Mule?'

Truthfully, without over-egging it, as I often do, the library and journalism, those things made me who I am.
