Women have always been at the forefront of progressive movements. Women can be depended on when you need bodies in the streets for women's rights and human rights.

Human rights are women's rights, and women's rights are human rights.

One thing that I don't like about some human rights approaches is that they rest on the notion of negative liberties. Some people take it that rights they have secured from the state means the state has to keep its hands off (on that issue).

Gay rights are human rights.

No references to the need to fight terror can be an argument for restricting human rights.

Women in my country take their rights for granted and completely dissociate themselves from the women's rights movement and feminism. But I think anything's possible. If I don't help the women in Afghanistan, they won't be around to help me.
