Writers traditionally see themselves and are perceived as acting in the solitude of their rooms, doing their work. They can only survive if they have an audience and engage in the process with others.

What one writer can make in the solitude of one room is something no power can easily destroy.

With acting there are a lot more choices, ... With this, I either stick it or I don't. There's something really unforgiving about that.

Do your work; not just your work and no more, but a little more for the lavishing's sake - that little more which is worth all the rest.

Converse with men makes sharp the glittering wit, But God to man doth speak in solitude.
