Yeah, I was Miles' first guitarist, but I never traveled with him, just worked on studio dates, ... Miles had a dark personality, and it was kinda scary working with him. He could be terribly intimidating at times, but I never thought he meant to be. He was just being Miles.

Most of my early records were not cohesive at all, just collections of demos recorded in different years. 'Odelay' was the first time I actually got to go in the studio and record a piece of music in a continuous linear fashion, although that was written over a year.

So I get it worked out beforehand so I can be really efficient in the studio.

I like the studio because it's delicate; you're working for sound. I like the garage because chopping up lumps of steel is the exact opposite of delicate. The garage is a more dangerous place though. I've never almost been crushed by a guitar, but I can't say the same about one of my Corvettes.
