You can't win the state championship tonight, but you can lose it!

To win the championship you have to go through Brooklyn or the Bronx. I've been coaching 37 years and only eight times has a team outside of those boroughs won.

I think the kid started to feel, 'Hey I'm a basketball player,' and then the coach finally got whacked in the head with something. We were thinking of playing him for a long time, it was just where, how.

I don't know how many teams down (16) in the state championship game would have put out their lips, but that wasn't going to happen to this team. Until the last foul, they had no doubts they were going to win. I'm proud of them for that.

It's been difficult. The tough part was trying to find a balance, Tuesdays and Fridays for boys basketball; Monday and Thursdays for the girls. And it's nice for our kids to compete for all-conference and conference championships. Our schedule has been difficult to do, and we made it work as best we could. I think all of that paid off today.

Our kids have been playing pretty good basketball. They have practiced well and their attitude has been great. It seems to be every day in practice they are hungry to get better.
