You're doing a good job but that one's a handful. I would not put that one in the showmanship class.

It is a chance for farm, non-farm and city kids to mingle. It is just a good event for kids. The kids come back and remember the livestock show. It was significant in their growing up process. That indicates to me that they learned something from it.

It takes a lot of courage to get out there with a 1,200-pound steer if you weigh 90 pounds. Even a lamb can step on your foot.

The children take the animals in a ring and they have a judge. There will be maybe four or five classes for the hogs, and the judge will pick the top two and then declare an overall grand champion.

We open up the class explaining how the city wants to partner through the network with the police department to train residents on how to help us prevent crime in the community.
