You've got to like the way we battled. It's critical that the kids remember that it's only the first game of the year and not let this be a devastating loss.

Nate is outstanding. He is a Division I pitcher. He had 13 strikeouts in a game Friday and 13 more today in relief.

This was a big win in terms of the District 1 (Class) AAA playoffs. We are two games ahead of them, and there are two automatic bids from the league. It was a big game in that respect standings-wise.

He?s been throwing outstanding all year. He?s had great stuff and he seems to get better every time out.

Unfortunately, from our perspective, it came down to where we beat ourselves. You don't want to have base running mistakes and walk guys. That's something we need to talk about. But you've got to give Spring-Ford credit, too.

Some ? a very small percentage, we believe ? did not survive the storm. A larger number are kids who are probably with mom or dad or grandma, but other family members don't know where they are. We think they're safe, they just haven't been in touch with the rest of the family yet.
