A lot of people know the fire school is in town, but not many have been to it. This gives us the opportunity to show people what we do. It's a place where we are doing a lot for the community, the state and country.

We want to show people what search-and-recovery teams go through. The windows are the floors, and the floors are the walls. Their world is literally turned upside down.

It's a situation right now where the greatest need is rescuing people, ... It's essentially plucking people from rooftops.

The dead grass and pine needles from last year serve as fuel for the fire. With the wind blowing the way it is, an ember from a small fire can blow dozens of feet and spark a larger fire.

So many people ask us, 'What do we need to do to get this in our school? How much do I need? Thousands of dollars?' And we're like, not at all. We could probably get a starting setup for 400 bucks or less. They're so amazed. Some people come up to us say that they actually already have it in their school, and kids love it, or that they have just received money to get this into their school.

The traditional high school concept for a frightening number of people just doesn't work.
