Eventually Santa Monica has to grow out towards this way, it has to expand out eventually. And I'm not too far from the main activity, so I took a chance.

Not everyone in Santa Monica is a well-heeled, juice-cleansing, Prius-driving yogini, but for better or worse, that is the city's dominant chord.

We are not going to build a 25,000-square-foot studio in Santa Monica. No one is going to give me a camera and say shoot stuff. We want to partner with the entertainment industry.

A lot of the Vietnamese kids can't really speak Vietnamese anymore. Most of them will have a very heavy accent, because they can't speak it well. So for the kids pageant, the kids will have to be able to speak Vietnamese. And so this is what we're trying to promote: Let them memorize some Vietnamese lines, go up on stage and see how well they present their Vietnamese.

It's a permit we were anticipating for a while. We knew they would eventually expand the library, and they're not impacting any of the preserve being managed for scrub jays.

I love Santa Monica and Venice because I like the beach. I have a lot of friends in that area.
