Florida has always been the poster-child for reform, first in a bad way in 2000 but then in a good way in responding to it. Florida is in many ways a bellwether of what might happen with other states around the country.

Unfortunately, his successor is likely to face equally strong challenges over the next few years, whether or not pension reform legislation passes.

Even small pieces of campaign finance reform are difficult. There's a lot of different interests in Springfield, and there's not a huge appetite from any corner for real campaign finance reform. We certainly saw that when the bill was introduced last session.
