Growing up, my dream was to play Division I basketball. I also knew that one day I would like to be a Division I head coach. The Citadel was the school that allowed me to do that. To be able to play basketball and be a head coach at the same school is a dream come true.

Growing up, my whole family played basketball, and we would have our battles in the backyard. There would be bleeding and crying.

I'm 60 now, and when I was growing up we were told we are a democracy, but I'm increasingly afraid that we're becoming an empire. Empires have utter contempt for people, they lie to them, they use them, and they throw them away when they're done with them. I think what we're seeing now is just that.

Growing up, softball was always my second sport. I decided at the last second to play.

Growing up on a ranch, we worked hard every day.

As a kid growing up in the little city of Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, I dreamed of one day playing in the NHL, but never did I expect it to be as much fun as it turned out to be.
