He wanted those kids to play together and work hard together.

He also wanted to teach those kids good sportsmanship and good citizenship. And it's something he's still doing today.

My father would leave home for seven or eight months of the year trying to pursue his hockey career. We only saw him in the off season and I had no idea what he was going through until my early teens. That's when I started collecting stories and articles written about my father. I have over a thousand of them.

The kids had no place to go after work so they come out here to play cards, work on cars or snowmobiles. Every night there are kids out here doing something.

Both teams played hard. I know these kids and they work hard and play hard. They're super kids on each side.
