I believe in the philosophy known as 'inclusion' that brings special needs and develops the classroom so it supports learners' styles.

If in this grade differences are celebrated, not isolated, then when kids get older they don't see differences. They don't see color. They don't see race. They don't see religion. They just see human beings.

It's an amazing opportunity to spread the message that all children can learn.

The SALT Block does have physical needs. The West Classroom building and auditorium needs renovating. We need more space for the museum of art, the science center.

It's just painful. You have to carry insulin which needs to be refrigerated. It's not convenient.

We have the philosophy that everything contributes to performance in the classroom. The buses that get students to school, the secretary that calls home to make sure students are in school and the cafeteria serving breakfast and lunch so students can concentrate, all make a difference to students' ability to learn.
