I feel like I'm 15 and in my first garage band again, ... I don't know where that's coming from, but I love it. I find an even deeper exuberance in playing music and putting on a show. I'm just giddy about putting all this together and giving something to people that they haven't seen before.

My dad was a drummer on the weekends when he was young. Being a kid in the '50s, he got bitten by the rock 'n' roll bug like everyone else. He had a fascination with American culture and the American dream. He fell in love with the idealism.

Day after day you find a way to make this grown man cry.

There are certain things you want to go do together, and you want your mate to be there. But mostly you just try and, you know, pick places where you shouldn't be going because it's going to be too crazy.

When I was 15, 16 and joining this band when I was 18, I was just enthralled, and going to a basement and seeing it filled with kids was the best thing in the world. Now I'm looking at it like 'Basements? Is that really as good as it gets here?' And now there are Buffalo bands saying they're only going to play basements, like a rebellion thing. For us, there weren't any other options.
