It has been an oversimplified tale.

They did have a family dog.

Most of what we're finding (is) smaller than a dime. We're trying to say something deep and meaningful from a site that's relatively obscure.

So that may have accounted for some of their problems.

I think this has the potential to revise the way people look at the Donner Party.
