It's not an attempt to say one crime is worse than another. It gives the public more information to make their own decisions.

There needs to be more information to give citizens a better idea of what risk an offender poses to them.

Reading some of the descriptions, it's just hard to figure out was that a 20-year-old guy who had sex with a 17-year-old girlfriend or was it a lewd and lascivious situation or, even worse, sexual battery.

Using the crime analysis information, officers know what types of crimes are taking place and in what areas, so they know what to look for when they're on the streets.

At this point, we have such limited information that we don't know if we have a crime or a civil matter.
