It's not very often parents like us can sit back on the sidelines. The Special Olympics allow us to do that.

All we want Congress to do is hear what we have to say. We have illegal parents. Some of us are here illegally. And all we want is an education and to succeed in the United States, because we're already here.

This strategy could be successful in markets that are multi-cultural with assimilated Hispanic populations, such as California, Florida and Texas,

But it's not as likely to succeed in states with emerging Hispanic populations such as North Carolina. The strategy still depends too much on going through mainstream banking contacts, and many Latinos still prefer to transfer through independent stores in their communities.

That's because of the drinking, smoking and loud noise.

We are studying here. We want to be able to work here. My parents are immigrants, too.
