It's painful for parents to know their child is going to cry and hurt. At some visits, a baby can get five shots, and that is difficult to watch.

We usually have bubbles in the office we can blow. Sometimes, we'll get them to sing a song they like. We'll have the parent turn the child so they're not looking directly at the syringe.

I was shocked and I was broken-hearted. I was hurt, because no matter what goes on with your parents or in your home, there's still no way you should act like that.

I think it's hard for parents because they're not in the classroom. They're not seeing these kids all together. I think discipline can be a big problem in the classroom. At night, the parents came to the Colonial museum to hear the students presentations. It was quite a culmination of our Colonial unit. I loved seeing their enthusiasm and excitement about their presentations. They were just bubbling over with excitement and pride.
