I've come to realize that life is not a musical comedy, it's a Greek tragedy.

When I was 19, I made my first good week's pay as a club musician. It was enough money for me to quit my job at the factory and still pay the rent and buy some food. I freaked.

They say that these are not the best of timesBut they're the only times I've ever knownAnd I believe there is a time for meditationIn cathedrals of our own.

Musicians want to be the loud voice for so many quiet hearts.

Well we're waiting here in Allentown,
For the Pennsylvania we never found,
For the promises our teachers gave,
If we worked hard,
If we behaved...
So the graduations hang on the wall,
But they never really helped us at all,
No they never taught us what was real,
Iron and coke,
And chromium steel,
And we're waiting here in Allentown...
But they've taken all the coal from the ground,
And the union people crawled away...

You can get what you want or you can just get old.
