Meredith and Jessy played at a level much higher than anytime last season. They were much more mature and reliable.

We had had the 20-3 season, and saw we can compete at a higher level. At that point, we knew we needed to get some tougher teams on schedule. You have to walk before you run, and we don't want to keep fighting an uphill battle. You have to be ready before you put the big dogs on the schedule.

Thornton from Florida State was absolutely sensational. He's been terrific all season, but he played about as well as anybody has played against us in the last five years here at Cameron.

We liked the way he handled himself at the Senior Bowl, and the way he played throughout the season. There's a big upside with his speed.

The irritation level is just a lot higher.

The youngest guy I ever worked with who played at a successful level is Aaron Brooks in New Orleans. He obviously benefited from sitting and watching.
