Most women do not realize that heart disease is the #1 killer of American women.

When you look at the statistics for heart disease and diabetes in African-American women, it's detected very late. We're trying to reach out to a younger audience and educate them before they get to that stage.

Among the women who made larger reductions in saturated and trans fat we saw trends toward reduction in heart disease.

One out of two women are going to have, live with, and/or die from heart disease and stroke. It is amazing women are still not getting that message, and one has to ask why.

Some of this benefit we see now may be a combination of our increased awareness of heart disease in women and improved technology in medicine, and overall improvement in care of our patients.
