People are overlooking that this project has been approved and this is just an amendment to the existing permit.

We understand the concerns. There is concern in all communities that we work it. But this is needed.

People want to do something practical, more than just send a check, which we realize is often the most practical thing to do. But it just seems so impersonal. People want to make connections and feel like they're part of something larger than themselves, so getting involved in collecting provisions, tools, toys or whatever, gives us a sense that we are really helping.

When you get new people constantly into an area, they are not sure of themselves. They don't know what the past is, and I don't think they care that much. They came here for the future.

I really think that we lost this game in the first few innings. We did a nice job getting people into scoring position, but we didn't come up with the hits when we really needed them.

There's a lot of different people in a lot of different situations, but I think the bigger picture is 2008.
