People leave our programs and say, wasn't that a nice little show? I take that as a compliment, because that means it looks like it just magically happened.

What I'm trying to do is find a well-rounded activity program for them to select from. If we were visiting their town and didn't know what was there, it would be nice if a local person could give us some suggestions.

We set it up like a little jazz club with bistro tables.

Hemingway is a cultural bridge between the two cultures, the two people. We're not working toward any political end, just to preserve the historical memory of a US writer who lived many years here.

When you get new people constantly into an area, they are not sure of themselves. They don't know what the past is, and I don't think they care that much. They came here for the future.

It's a very diverse community, with people from all different backgrounds and walks of life. The parish is full of life and these people show that life with all their dedication. I've really enjoyed working with them. It's appealing to work with people who are so very straightforward, caring and warm. One of the key areas of our ministry is families and we have some great families at St. Lawrence. We're constantly learning and moving forward.
