Punishment is not for revenge, but to lessen crime and reform the criminal.

They traded their houses for the big house.

Instead of living on a 130 acre farm making millions, he'll be living in an 8 by 8 cell making license plates.

Does Capital punishment tend to the security of the people? By no means. It hardens the hearts of men, and makes the loss of life appear light to them; it renders life insecure, inasmuch as the law holds out that Property is of greater value than life.

It's not a matter of punishment or revenge, but closure. We'd like to put an end to this, and learn why it happened.
