The entire district is really focused on literacy.

It's just another way that our district supports literacy.

Reading really does go down in middle and high school. The amount of reading kids do in those grades just goes down. There are so many clubs and sports competing for that attention.

At the middle school level, we have a reading specialist who can give that extra dose of instruction in reading that some students need.

We're getting more and more [high school teachers] asking about that all the time.

The taxpayers of the entire district have subsidized everything we've done for years. That is something the board does not want to make worse.
