The Georgia Peace and Justice Coalition will continue to exercise our constitutional rights.

The region needs peace, economic development and real exercise of cultural rights for Kurds.

The strategy of putting justice on hold for an elusive peace settlement has emboldened human rights abusers on both sides of the conflict. This approach has fueled a pervasive culture of impunity that has led to ever-increasing acts of violence against civilians.

Why is our government spying? We?re not a terrorist threat. Indeed, we?re a threat to the administration?s policies. The administration knows the American people [oppose Bush?s policies] when they?re fully informed.

To have these events monitored is a ridiculous misuse of funds. This kind of surveillance has a chilling effect.

We are beckoned to see the world through a one-way mirror, as if we are threatened and innocent and the rest of humanity is threatening, or wretched, or expendable. Our memory is struggling to rescue the truth that human rights were not handed down as privileges from a parliament, or a boardroom, or an institution, but that peace is only possible with justice and with information that gives us the power to act justly.
