The government has worked hard to strengthen preparedness and prevention efforts and good progress has been made.

The virus doesn't respect any borders. Any uncontrolled movement or handling within countries or across borders is a risk factor.

Certainly the measures that have been taken [in Vietnam] will have contributed to the [improved] situation, but there may be other factors that we're not yet aware of.

We applaud the B.C. government for its leadership in this important and emerging area of cancer prevention. We believe prevention holds the most promise for reducing the burden of cancer, by preventing cancer from occurring in the first place. We expect other jurisdictions will strive to emulate this B.C. initiative.

North Dakota spends zero dollars on alcohol prevention. The money comes from the federal government and is funneled through various state agencies. Those federal dollars are increasingly in short supply.

There is no progress if you don't have the government pushing the industry to improve.
