The strength of our team has been our defense.

There's no secret where they'll be on defense. We see certain things that we feel we can do. We know what we want to run. We'll see if it comes to fruition.

Kyle makes all the line calls. You watch him. He'll get up to the line, look at the defense and start barking out calls. He's irreplaceable.

They talk about his defense, but what I saw offensively was not a weak shortstop. He's got more strength than I was led to believe. Anybody can do the drills when the ball is coming at you at 50 miles an hour (in batting practice), but I like what I see early.

When they signed him, they envisioned him as a slash-type of player. Once they saw his mobility and arm strength, they said 'This kid can play.' He could be starting at corner, safety or linebacker for that team.

As coaches at Palma, we've always felt that Chad had tremendous Division I talent. But he's not your prototype 6-3 quarterback. And we don't put the ball in the air a lot here. It was a matter of convincing coaches he could play.
