These were young, healthy guys. People get caught out on the river. They don't realize how physical a run it is. It's very strenuous.

I would say we've had to go out and rescue someone at least once a month over the last six months. It always has been a problem, but it seems to be happening more frequently.

They really bond well together. They had their backs up against the wall, and they did real well. I am proud to be their coach.

Troy won every match for two straight years, until state his senior year. He suffered a tough loss, but took it with class. He was special.

You coach all your life to see something like that.

I found out that what really motivates me and drives me is helping people. That had been true at DCI, where seeing that succeed really gave me a charge.
