They were kids [black and white] who had never been in touching distance of each other and knew nothing about each other . . . One kid said his father told him black kids had tails. He found out we don't.

His message of peace and love was universal. He is the man to whom the world owes a great debt of gratitude.

The reason for the kids not being on the team was a valid reason. They didn't quit. They had a choice, and the choice they made put them off the team.

Before we left the hotel Saturday, the kids had a meeting. They committed themselves to playing hard Saturday night. This is the best team I've had as far as playing together. Everybody knows his role. A lot of these kids never played middle school basketball.
