They've got kids who are as big as anybody. They may not have people at the skill level as Inland Lakes or Central Lake, but they've been able to move the ball on everybody. They're well-coached.

We had our receivers in the backfield. We had some missed routes because we had to plug different kids into there.

The whole culture of what makes Hickory special is that no matter who you are or what your skill level is, they want you there and they want to make you a better driver. And Saturday night fans get a show as the drivers get better.

For athletes who have been recruited to a Division I school, we know their skill level is in the upper percentiles. The difference between one athlete in the 98th percentile and another in the 97th percentile is primarily mental.

It's still fun dealing with the kids. I have depth between the varsity and JV. I'm pleased with their skill level. If we make the tournament, we're going to be dangerous.

Right now, consistency is our problem. I know our kids have the skill to score well, but they just have to put it all together in the meets.
