This is a good case to take to the Supreme Court.

My reading of that case is that the U.S. Supreme Court has said that the state legislature has plenary power, full power, in respect to appointment of presidential electors and that power cannot be eroded even by the state constitution,

I think probably that this is a case that will go to the Supreme Court, which means you probably won't have a verdict until 10 years down the line.

The Senate has a constitutional responsibility to fill vacancies on the Supreme Court, and I take that responsibility very seriously.

After that point, it is likely that the case could be appealed to the Supreme Court, which could add at least another six months to the outcome. So the case may not conclude until 2003.

Today's action makes it likely that during the period that the Supreme Court is considering the case, there will likely be a suspension of the interim remedies.
