This is a team sport, and the kids know that we are trying to be more diversified and not have as much of a feature player as we had last year. We're going to spread it around a little bit more, and hopefully that makes us a little more dangerous.

When kids are happy to see their group succeed, and not have to be the leading part all the time, I think they like that. The key thing is the 'We.' It's the offense, it's the defense, and it's the special teams. We want to make teams defend the whole field.

We have a lot of tough cases that come along, some involving young kids on their own trying to get along. Some people think that they are out on the dole all of their life, but that may only be 25 percent. Some might have lost a job. Think about how well you would be doing if you lost a job.

We're still trying to find some answers with some of our kids. We'll put them on, like, a speed reading course and see what we have.

He understands his assignment, but maybe not the whole concept of what we're trying to accomplish with the play. We're just trying to get him to understand the total picture and get a little more effort out of him.
