To do that, we've got to play the closer teams, but those are all 2A schools, borderline 3A schools. But those are the money games we have to play. We have to play Wade Hampton. We have to play Allendale (Fairfax). That's why our overall record is never going to be that good.

If we can do that and upset some of the bigger teams we can get closer to qualifying for a major championship again.

People put so much value in records, but see what happens with the kids. These boys are learning about being men.

We try not to have the kids go lacking.

There's no movie theatre here, no bowling alley, no YMCA. Everything is like an hour away, so we try to get as many of them involved in sports as we can so they're not off doing other things that can lead to trouble.

The theologian Paul Tillich wrote that "loneliness can be conquered only by those who can bear solitude." Because the borderline finds solitude so difficult to tolerate, she is trapped in a relentless metaphysical loneliness from which the the only relief comes from of the physical presence of others. So she will often rush to singles bars or with crowded haunts, often with disappointing--or even violent--results.
