Trends don't mean anything to me. If I like something, I'll do it. If I don't, I won't do it, and I wouldn't care if everybody in the country mocked me.

One of the emerging trends in Australia is house breaks where the keys are stolen, because nowadays the late model vehicles have good security devices in them.

Active management of one's online presence---say, by receiving quarterly reports from your identity manager tracking the changing shape of your online identity---will become the new normal for the prominent and those who aspire to be prominent.

Or at least the ends justify being really mean!

Bigotry is one of the oldest and ugliest of trends, so persistent it only counts as a fad because the target keeps changing: Huguenots, Koreans, homosexuals, Muslims, Tutsis, Jews, Quakers, wolves, Serbs, Salem housewives. Nearly every group, so long as it’s small and different, has had a turn, and the pattern never changes—disapproval, isolation, demonization, persecution. Which was one of the reasons it’d be nice to find the switch that turned fads on. I’d like to turn that one off for good.

Regardless of the popular literary trend of the times, write the thing which lies close to your heart.
