Unfortunately, I don't have a positive outlook on the Outer Banks because it is such a struggle. It's beautiful here, and I'm fortunate to live near my family. But I work seven days a week.

People don't realize you have to work two to three jobs here to survive.

You take baby steps and get a positive out of it. It's a struggle, but you come out here and give it hell every day.

It's definitely been a struggle with the weather. It's tough keeping people's spirits up, and it's more difficult motivating them to be out there. Hopefully we can get some nice weather here in the next few weeks and get things going.

Our beloved, endangered brown pelicans have a never-ending struggle to survive. Pelicans have been my inspiration. I've wanted to retire, but I can't — I promised them I'd help them. They have had such a hard life, and they still do.

The team is coming back from the break with a positive, refreshed outlook. We are ready to take on the challenges that lay ahead in the upcoming competitions.
