We are trying to let the victims know they are not forgotten and there are services in the community to help them deal with what they are going through.

Lives are changed so dramatically and so swiftly by violent death. It's a slow process to rebuild, and it's better when families feel that justice is done.

As for the family members of victims, slap-on-the-wrist sentences compound the grief process.

We're trying to send a message to the community that when someone goes above and beyond, we'll recognize it.

This is a mayor who has reached out to every part of the city, every community, and is trying to make improvements for everyone in the city, ... And it's a shame that Mr. Ferrer's campaign has to get into the divisive and negative tactics that failed him in the past.

The community, the city that I live in, we're trying to clean the community up, to bring it up, ... We can't tolerate anybody that's going to bring it down so, in my opinion, these guys needed to go.
