We have 60-70 boys and 25 girls out. We were just hoping to have 25-30 boys our first year and now that's already doubled. Any time you are trying to grow a sport, it's great to see the interest and enthusiasm.

The girls wanted to see if they could get the boys to cry.

We don't have the numbers of the boys team, but the girls have a good attitude and are a good, spirited group. That should bode well and we should have enough to run most of our relays.

I could see both the boys and girls races being very close. It isn't just Penn and then everybody else, like before. There are a lot of teams in the mix.

A lot of the girls can shoot as hard as the guys. (But) the boys are so much quicker and faster. And they shoot from everywhere. So it really helps us to always be ready. It's good for reflexes.

Since a lot of them, the varsity boys and some of the girls, ran during the summer, we have been able to hit some hill work and speed work earlier in the season. Plus, we have added some circuit training; which includes sit-ups, push-ups and various other exercises to build the core muscles.
