We have become friends, but first we were customers. Our skills and her needs just met, and we are just doing what needs to be done.

We're going to close the store for Labor Day, which is typical, but I'm going to use the day to be at the booth at the fair. We'll have demonstrations of knitting, crocheting, tatting and Brazilian embroidery (as compared to three other types of embroidery), and we'll be able to tell folks when they can come in to the shop and learn the crafts for themselves.

We can't order supplies or anything like that, but we know how to knit, crochet, tat and embroider. Other volunteers do needlepoint, so we can help customers with just about anything. We have volunteers stopping by to help file patterns and bring food to Barbara. We're just meeting a need.

We wouldn't think of doing anything different.

I was appalled. It was just shocking. I'm a woman and a black woman. Every woman needs to be angry about this. Every man and every child. Duke is trying to hide this and they're not going to get away with it.

It's there for anybody that needs it. We like to help them out.
