We're continually trying to expand our bikeway system whenever we can. We're trying to build these into road projects when we do them. When it happens is somewhat development driven.

The bike trail is very popular throughout the community. I don't think it has a big impact on the number of vehicle trips being made, except on special events. The path between Crocket Park and the YMCA is usually packed on nice summer days.

We're going to have to go underneath the railroad. The old Wilson Pike used to go under the railroad in a one-lane tunnel. We're going to use that existing tunnel.

In the last six months, there has been a lot of negative press about the road projects in that area.

You wonder whether or not consolidating all these road projects is going to backfire like the '79 snowstorm did on [Chicago Mayor Michael] Bilandic.

We have a program where we're trying to improve training for the operation and maintenance of all of our projects and the ministries technical capacity to support these projects.
