We've seen an increase in the number of Eastpointe residents using our facility since theirs closed. In fact, we had six sign up the day after the election.

I live alone, and wouldn't go to half the restaurants if I wasn't in this group. So many of these people have such interesting stories to tell.

Because we are federally funded (by Community Development Block Grant funds), we're open to nonresidents. The day after Eastpointe's center closed, we got a few Eastpointe seniors here. They were totally surprised -- a lot of them showed up to their senior center one day and found it padlocked.

There are things that government can do to incentivize the free market to do a better job, yes. But is that a replacement for getting in the way, actively, of the fossil fuel industry and preventing them from destroying our chances of a future on a livable planet? It's not a replacement.

I've never seen a movement spread as fast as the fossil fuel divestment movement.
