When you have a large percentage of pre-1978 property and you also have lots of children in poverty, then you're going to have a lot of children at risk for lead poisoning.

In general in the state we're seeing the number of children being tested to be somewhat less than we would expect.

If a small percentage of children are getting tested, and maybe not the ones that are most at risk, then we can't tell a whole lot about the prevalence. There could be a big problem there and we're not detecting it.

These are children who are in the 185th percent of the national poverty level. If it weren't for this program, these children would not receive these meals and they may not be able to get these same meals anywhere else.

The poor are always rich in children, and in the dirt and ditches of this street there are groups of them from morning to night, hungry, naked and dirty. Children are the living flowers of the earth, but these had the appearance of flowers that have faded prematurely, because they grew in ground where there was no healthy nourishment.
