While we no longer gag people completely, if they are not careful and particularly if they step into any criticism of the integrity of the system or the individuals involved in it, the result will be a fine.

Given the strides the Bulldogs have made in this area it would be a drastic step to look at competition points and fines, but it is something that has to be fixed.

Those are not particularly the ones we're looking at here, but we have to be careful with duplication of that kind.

It sounds like a careful step, not a huge expansion

It goes without saying that Craig Gower can not find himself in this position again. This suspended fine may be only part of what he will face from the club and the league. We will be reviewing the matter when we have received a formal report from the club but, on the face of it, they have been through an exhaustive process and imposed a significant penalty.

But obviously there are venues in our competition which are not suitable for finals football, for the crowds that are likely to turn up to finals in the future.
