You live for yourself. There is more time for family and friends and the chance to travel. I can take off when I want and I don't need anyone's permission.

My plans for the off season are to travel and spend time with family and friends.

Time travel is such a magic concept.

It's sort of like a tribe, a group of friends you see all the time. You travel with them, you break bread with them, ... You're part of a family in a sense. That's what surfing is or it used to be. It's become a bigger family now that everybody is so interested.

After 37 years, I felt it was time to retire.
