You never really know what to expect. He did OK. He was overthrowing, but that's [something] to be expected. But he hung tough and kept us in there. He'll be a good one -- get that one out of the way and feel like he belongs.

Nobody expected him to be here when he came up, but I think it's done wonders for him. [But] I don't think he's got enough innings under his belt in the Minor Leagues.

It's hard to describe his outing. He was pitching OK in spots,

I expect his command to be a little bit better. I talked to a couple pitching coaches that I ran into last week and they said, 'Hey, you'll find out that when he's on, you sit back in the dugout and it's fun to watch him.' We hope he has one of those [on Friday].

It wasn't just OK to achieve in my family - it was expected.

He was really hyped up. He never got in a groove. He was overthrowing and he couldn't make the adjustment. It's the first day and it's tough on the young kids.
