If you're working on the line at Ford or you're an accountant doing taxes day after day, there seems to be no tangible results of your efforts. In a war, there are deaths, but there is personal gratification.

Results always reflect the efforts made.

In a place like Fort Bragg, where there are 50,000 people, there is a much better chance of developing and sustaining a relationship over time and potentially getting promotions in that area, which used to be not that common.

It occurred in Vietnam. But it was still unusual.
