To this day, I'm not upset that I had cancer. I almost knew I had it before I received the call. I was OK with it because as soon as I talked to Beth, I had a game plan.

It was actually really empowering.

[Friday, Latham spent the day in Pocatello, on one of the rare rest days he spends visiting cancer centers around the country. Talking with patients and workers at such centers serves to validate his cause, he said.] You'll be having this day when your back is hurting and someone will tell you their story and there will often be laughter and crying, ... The cancer centers are what it's all about for me.

This day is the only celebration that anybody does for survivors of breast cancer. It shows people who are newly diagnosed that there is hope because we have been here for years.

I'm hoping that Penn State will one day be able to find a cure for cancer. Being a part of THON means I'm doing my part to find that cure.

Because cancer does not sleep, neither will we for this one day.
